Teams meetings with no audio or video are frustrating, especially when you are already late. Here are the fastest fixes. ## Before the Meeting: Test Your Devices 1. Open Teams. 2. Click your profile picture > **Settings > Devices**. 3. Under **Audio devices**, select the correct speaker and microphone. Click **Make a test call** to verify. 4. Under **Camera**, select the correct camera. You should see a preview. ## No Audio (Cannot Hear Others) 1. Check that your **speakers or headphones are connected** and volume is up. 2. In the Teams meeting, click the **three dots > Device settings**. 3. Verify the correct **speaker** is selected. 4. Check that you are not muted (look at the microphone icon). 5. If using Bluetooth headphones, make sure they are connected and in the correct audio profile. ## No Audio (Others Cannot Hear You) 1. Check that you are **not muted** (microphone icon in the meeting toolbar). 2. Click **three dots > Device settings** and verify the correct **microphone** is selected. 3. Check Windows/Mac privacy settings to make sure Teams has microphone access. 4. Close any other application that might be using the microphone. ## Camera Not Working 1. Check for a **privacy slider or cover** on your webcam. 2. Click **three dots > Device settings** and select the correct camera. 3. Close any other application using the camera (Zoom, FaceTime, etc.). 4. Check Windows privacy settings: **Settings > Privacy > Camera > make sure Teams is allowed**. 5. Check Mac privacy settings: **System Settings > Privacy and Security > Camera > make sure Teams is toggled on**. ## Quick Fixes During a Meeting **Leave and rejoin.** Sometimes the simplest fix is to leave the meeting and rejoin. This resets the audio and video connection. **Switch audio device.** Click the three dots > Device settings and switch to a different speaker/microphone, then switch back. This can reset a stuck audio connection. **Join by phone.** If audio will not work through the computer, use the dial-in number provided in the meeting invitation to join audio by phone while keeping video on the computer. ## Persistent Issues **Update Teams:** Click your profile > Check for updates. **Clear Teams cache (Windows):** Close Teams. Press Win + R, type `%appdata%\Microsoft\Teams`, delete the Cache folder contents. Reopen Teams. **Reinstall Teams:** Uninstall from Settings > Apps, download fresh from teams.microsoft.com. ## When to Contact IT If audio or video issues happen in every meeting after trying the fixes above, the issue may be a driver conflict, a Group Policy restriction, or a network configuration blocking media traffic. Contact your IT provider.
