Normally, your iPhone asks you to "Trust This Computer?" once, and then remembers your choice. If it keeps asking every time you connect, the trust relationship has been corrupted. ## Fix 1: Reset Location and Privacy Settings 1. On your iPhone, go to **Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset**. 2. Tap **Reset Location and Privacy**. 3. Enter your passcode. 4. This resets all trust relationships. The next time you connect to any computer, you will be asked to trust it once (and it should remember after that). This does not delete any data. It only resets which computers your iPhone trusts. ## Fix 2: Update iOS 1. Go to **Settings > General > Software Update**. 2. Install any available updates. 3. Try connecting again after the update. ## Fix 3: Try a Different Cable A damaged or non-MFi certified cable can cause intermittent trust prompts. Use an Apple-branded or MFi-certified Lightning or USB-C cable. ## Fix 4: Try a Different USB Port Connect to a different USB port on your computer. Avoid USB hubs. Connect directly to the computer. ## Fix 5: Update iTunes (Windows) If you are connecting to a Windows PC: 1. Open the **Microsoft Store** and check for iTunes updates. 2. Or download the latest version from [apple.com/itunes](https://www.apple.com/itunes/). ## Fix 6: Delete Old Apple Lockdown Certificates (Windows) 1. Close iTunes. 2. Disconnect your iPhone. 3. Press **Win + R**, type `%ProgramData%\Apple\Lockdown`, press Enter. 4. Delete all files in that folder. 5. Reconnect your iPhone and trust the computer when prompted. **Mac:** 1. Open Terminal. 2. Run: ```bash sudo rm /var/db/lockdown/* ``` 3. Reconnect the iPhone. ## When to Contact IT If the trust loop persists after all fixes, the issue may be related to an MDM profile on the iPhone or a Group Policy on the computer restricting USB device trust. Contact your IT provider.
