Changing your Microsoft 365 password regularly, or immediately if you suspect it has been compromised, is an important security practice. ## From the Web (Easiest) 1. Go to [myaccount.microsoft.com](https://myaccount.microsoft.com). 2. Sign in with your current email and password. 3. Click **Security** or **Password**. 4. Click **Change password**. 5. Enter your current password, then enter and confirm your new password. 6. Click **Submit**. ## From Windows (Ctrl + Alt + Delete) If your computer is domain-joined or Azure AD joined: 1. Press **Ctrl + Alt + Delete**. 2. Click **Change a password**. 3. Enter your current password, new password, and confirm. 4. Press Enter. ## From Your Phone If your organization uses self-service password reset: 1. On the Microsoft 365 login page, click **Forgot my password** or **Can't access your account**. 2. Verify your identity through your registered phone, email, or authenticator app. 3. Create a new password. ## Password Requirements Most organizations enforce password policies. Common requirements: Minimum 8 to 14 characters (varies by organization). Mix of uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols. Cannot reuse recent passwords. May expire after 90 to 365 days (varies by policy). ## After Changing After changing your password, you will need to update it on every device where you are signed in: Outlook desktop app (it should prompt automatically). Mobile email apps. Teams app on your phone. Any other Microsoft 365 apps. If an app keeps asking for the old password, sign out completely and sign back in with the new password. ## When to Change Immediately Change your password right away if: You received an MFA prompt you did not trigger. You suspect someone else has your password. You used the same password on a website that was breached. Your IT provider tells you to change it.
